“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:”

James's practical instruction to call the church's elders to pray.

“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

Read with the verses around it; James ties prayer, faith and forgiveness together.

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

A promise of restoration to a people others had written off.

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

The shepherd restores the soul.

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.”

Matthew's summary of Jesus' early ministry in Galilee.

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

Jesus had gone away to be alone after hearing of John the Baptist's death.

Jesus touches a man with leprosy, someone others would avoid touching.

“And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”

Spoken to a woman who had been ill for twelve years.

“And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.”

Crowds pressing in to touch Jesus.

“When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Jesus answers critics who objected to the company he kept.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

From the Servant Song that the New Testament reads as describing Christ.

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Peter quotes Isaiah 53 and applies it to the cross.

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”

An invitation to return to God after a season of judgment.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

God's answer to Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the temple.

“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Spoken to Israel soon after the crossing of the Red Sea.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

John's vision of a new heaven and a new earth.

“In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
